“The Season Falls Upon Us”©️ October 21, 2026

and with that crisp breeze,
the chill brushed against my face,
awakening my sorrow, immediate alarm.
Looking toward the sky
Staring into the ground
Release of happiness,
released of its charm
Winter is coming.
Winter is coming,
and her birthday is nigh.
Winter is coming;
I must prep for my cries.
I must prep for the memories.
sadness intensified.
Winter is coming.
I must revisit goodbyes.
This season falls upon us.
How heavy it is to hold
reassurance of humanity
if one breaks beneath the cold.
Strength dissected,
embraced in folds.
Sheets rise up and tuck me in bed.
Lights go out; the night is fed
with bellows
cellos - melodic tears.
Flashes upon flashes,
memories clear.
Body solid, movements denied,
lying, replaying time after time:
giggles, laughter, heated debates,
your voice, expressions,
your beautiful face.
The season is upon us,
and I prep for its arrival.
I prep for my survival.
I prep for your revival.
Heavy is my heart
Like the late winter storms
Heavy are the tears
Like the icicle which forms
Winter is coming
The season is upon us
Love responsive
Love responds to
a physical portion of the heart
Reconstructed
Deconstructed
Revitalized
Amplified moments
Of our lives
Much more than daily glances
of childhood memories
The last moments infectious
releasing love so dear to me
Still with me forever
Now the loss - multiplied
I prep for its arrival
I prep for my survival
I prep for her revival
I mourn and bathe in sorrow
The season is coming
and I anticipate tomorrow
Winter is coming
I shall celebrate and follow
her holding my hand as we walk into my dreams
the only place we are together
No nightmares no screams
The season is upon us
I'll greet her with my heart
I'll sing her happy birthday
as if we were never torn apart
